Die Meistersingers!

I attended an extraordinary performance of The Royal Opera Die Meistersingers von Nurnberg at Birmingham's Symphony Hall on Wednesday!

The concert performance featured the wonderful cast and orchestra from the Covent Garden production although sadly Bryn Terfel who should have been singing the Hans Sachs role was ill! The opera, which lasts an extraordinary 5 hours 45 minutes, was conducted by Antonio Pappano who was brilliant! It finished with a simply wonderful scene featuring some of the most beautiful music.
